Berkley, settled in the 1600s, is a small community with a rich history. The first description Dighton Rock was noted in berkley1690.  Shipbuilding began in 1790 and continued for over 75 years. Of all the Southcoast towns, Berkley is the closest to Boston which is 35 miles south, 22 miles east of Providence, RI, and 30 miles northwest of the canal. The town has close access to public transportation by train into Boston and beyond by MBTA rail.
Berkley borders the Taunton and Assonet Rivers and new development along both regions offer great water view and western exposure for sunsets. There are nearly 6000 residents living in about 1850 homes in the town. Median home values are $332,000, with a tax rate of just under $15.00/thousand valuations. The high school is part of the Somerset-Berkley Regional High School system where they have just completed a new 100 Million-dollar high school.
